Find out what lead to successfully establishing a financial company during Brexit and the pandemic from Max, the co-founder of Limitless Finance.
"It hasn’t been an easy journey, but we’re proud of where we’ve got so far. We’ve built a team of super-talented mortgage advisers and case managers who we all enjoy working with. We’re still going through high growth and that’s never comfortable, but it’s all good fun!"
Tell us about your entrepreneurial journey to date.
I studied engineering, realised I was a terrible engineer and somehow ended up in a 10 year career in and out of private equity. Then I came across the mortgage and financial services sector. I was particularly interested in the space because you get the opportunity to make a massive difference to people’s lives and it was obvious the industry was ripe for disruption. I believed there was a lack of transparency and fairness, especially when it came to people with more complex needs.
Limitless Finance was established in 2018 by myself and Mel Parker. Our mission is to offer specialist mortgage advice and world class service to people with complex income; without charging any fees.
2018 was a particularly difficult year to set up a mortgage broking business – Brexit uncertainty resulted in a steady decline in property transactions. This (along with personal legal battles around restrictive covenants followed by COVID outbreak closing the housing market for 2 months) has forced us to continuously adapt whilst staying true to our mission.
It hasn’t been an easy journey, but we’re proud of where we’ve got so far. We’ve built a team of super-talented mortgage advisers and case managers who we all enjoy working with.
We’re still going through high growth and that’s never comfortable, but it’s all good fun!
What is your business about, what services do you offer?
We’re a whole of market, independent specialist mortgage broker. Whilst we help everyone, we specialise in income complexity, including self-employed, business directors, partners, contractors, bonus and investment income. We have an amazing client services team who project manage the whole process right through to completion (chasing solicitors, lenders, agents, etc) so that our clients don’t have to.
What would you say is unique about your business?
The people who work at Limitless make us unique. We go to the ends of the earth to help our clients, and we never compromise on service. Before us, free used to mean cheap when it came to mortgage advice. We’re trying to turn the market on it’s head.
How has IncuHive helped you to achieve more success?
The original reason we moved to IncuHive was that a lot of our clients work for IBM, so it made sense to move onto the campus. We weren’t really expecting the great atmosphere and connections with other businesses that IncuHive has delivered in spades. That’s been a massive bonus for us. Now we hope to be able to help all IncuHivers with their mortgage needs in the future.
We love it here and are looking forward to meeting more people as restrictions ease.
What are your top three tips in business?

2. Be honest
3. Have fun
What would you like to be remembered about you?
After I die, I’d like my kids and wife to remember I have a life insurance policy.
What would be your super power?
Pulling wheelies – if only!
