"35 years on and I decided to enrol at Solent Uni and completed and achieved a fast-track 18month CMDA degree course in Business Management whilst in full time employment. You are never too old to learn new things."
When did you join IncuHive and what is your role?
Volunteered and helped over the past few years, joined in April this year and currently on a rolling contract, keen to do the deal to make the role permanent.
What is your favourite thing about working here?
It is a relaxed, fun working environment. The role demands you to put in a shift, be reactive, supportive, positive and motivated...Which ticks all my work ethic boxes.
What makes you smile while working?
After a week fitting out one of our new sites and some of the team make a surprise visit and I am greeted by; Steven with a ‘You’re smashing it’ reaction, George with a supportive ‘How are you buddy’ high five and Amie with her infectious personality and smile.
What would you say is a ‘must do’ for IncuHivers?
- Supportive and ‘can do’ attitude.
- Be flexible with work demands.
- Have fun.
What is your greatest achievement in life?
Proud of my two sons; Ben aged 25 and Sam aged 22, the paths they have chosen and how they have turned out.
Finish the sentence: One thing nobody knows about me is…
I left school at 15 with poor CSE grades and failed my only O level in Maths and couldn’t wait to start life at work and get out of the classroom.
35 years on and I decided to enrol at Solent Uni and completed and achieved a fast-track 18month CMDA degree course in Business Management whilst in full time employment. The degree was an apprenticeship and I had to retake Maths and English that I had failed all those years ago to qualify to be on the course. Never too old to learn new things.
