"The one thing that really motivates me when I am getting ready for work is that I know that I am coming into an environment where everybody is on the same page. Whatever business or industry the customer is in, we all share the same core values and it is such an awesome community to work in, it just motivates and carries you."

When did you join IncuHive and what is your role?
I joined IncuHive on the 19th of April this year and my given title is Customer Relations Manager but I would say that what I actually do involves anything that helps make our customers happy, for example helping paint a wall and building some furniture, negotiating on prices, delving into a bin to get some cardboard or helping to ensure a smooth moving. My role is especially focused on problem-solving and in addition to that I help to advertise IncuHive, so for example a few weeks ago I was going down to Brockenhurst working out from some of the cafes and the bars, getting to know the locals, getting chatted up by the scaffolders while handing out leaflets, coming across little donkey families - so nothing is off-limits, anything can happen. I love it!
What is your favourite thing about working here?
The one thing that really motivates me when I am getting ready for work is that I know that I am coming into an environment where everybody is on the same page. Whatever business or industry the customer is in, we all share the same core values and it is such an awesome community to work in, it just motivates and carries you. You just want more of it.
What makes you smile while working?
Definitely a good joke, having someone making a joke about me - usually at my expense! But it is hard to say, as I’m always smiling, even when I was being shouted at by the old lady in Stockbridge a few weeks ago about where I chose to park my car. At the end of our ‘conversation’ she apologised and almost invited me in for a cuppa!
Also, it’s really special when your customers, colleagues (and boss!) make you feel valued; you feel that every idea you voice is listened to, valued and encouraged. I think that this type of community is a really rare environment to find and be part of.
What would you say is a ‘must do’ for IncuHivers?
Definitely attend our barbeque and brewery networking afternoons because not only it is all free (at the moment!) but I would describe it as an in-person IncuHive version of Linkedin.
This is because our members will invite their customers to come along, which is great for me, as I can interact and network with them whilst enticing them to join IncuHive, so its win-win all round for everyone!
Also, don’t worry if you’re not great in such environments, or get nervous, that’s what I’m here for! Ping me a message, and I’ll be your voice and your discreet covert ‘social stabiliser’ (so to speak!).
IncuHive is passionate about inclusivity, and no one gets left out, or made to feel left out, so even if in-person events aren’t your thing, we’ve got a thriving community on Slack – our networking platform, so you can be your own social-bee in the comfort of your office or desk.
And of course, be sure to send me a joke! Love a good joke!
What is your greatest achievement in life?
100% my biggest achievement is marrying my best friend, Stumpy.
His real name is Ian, but everyone knows him as Stumpy. Fate definitely played her hand in how our paths crossed, but I wouldn’t be where I am today without his relentless, passionate support and also for putting up with my quirky ways and off the scale spontaneity!
